Back to Install on Debian

Uninstall / Linux / Debian

Uninstall on Debian.

Remove Ilopad from Debian, with its settings and the permissions that it added.

Follow the part that matches how you installed Ilopad. Each part removes the program. The last part is optional: it also removes your settings and the permissions that Ilopad added to your computer.

If you added the Ilopad repository

Use this if you installed Ilopad with apt from the Ilopad repository.

1

Quit Ilopad

If Start on Login is on, turn it off first: click the menu button at the top right of the Ilopad window, click Settings and clear Start on Login. Close Settings. Then click the menu button and click Quit. Or quit Ilopad from a terminal:

pkill -x ilopad-server
2

Remove Ilopad

Open Software, click Installed, and click Uninstall… next to Ilopad. Click Uninstall to confirm, then enter your password and click Authenticate.

Or remove Ilopad from a terminal. apt removes the program and its menu entry, and closes the firewall ports that Ilopad opened:

sudo apt purge ilopad-server
3

Remove the repository and its key

Delete the two files that you added, then refresh the package lists. apt then forgets the Ilopad repository:

sudo rm -f /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ilopad.sources \ /usr/share/keyrings/ilopad-archive-keyring.pgp sudo apt update

If you installed a single release by hand

Use this if you installed a downloaded package.

1

Quit Ilopad

If Start on Login is on, turn it off first: click the menu button at the top right of the Ilopad window, click Settings and clear Start on Login. Close Settings. Then click the menu button and click Quit. Or quit Ilopad from a terminal:

pkill -x ilopad-server
2

Remove it in Software

Open Software, click Installed, and click Uninstall… next to Ilopad. Click Uninstall to confirm, then enter your password and click Authenticate.

Or remove Ilopad from a terminal:

sudo apt purge ilopad-server

Remove your settings and the permissions

Optional. Removing the package closed the firewall ports that Ilopad opened, but it leaves these behind. Do these steps after you removed Ilopad with one of the parts above.

1

Remove the access to the input device

Ilopad added a device rule the first time that it asked for access to the input device. Remove it:

sudo rm -f /etc/udev/rules.d/70-ilopad-uinput.rules

If you clicked Use input group or Choose a different group, Ilopad also added the rule /etc/udev/rules.d/99-ilopad.rules and put your account in that group. Remove them too:

sudo rm -f /etc/udev/rules.d/99-ilopad.rules /etc/modules-load.d/ilopad.conf sudo gpasswd -d "$USER" input
Skip the last line if you were in the input group before you installed Ilopad, or if a different program needs it. If you selected a different group, use its name instead of input. If gpasswd says that you are not a member, Ilopad did not add you, and there is nothing to remove.
2

Remove your settings

This deletes your settings, your paired devices and the server key, and also the Start on Login entry. If you install Ilopad again later, you must pair each device again:

rm -rf ~/.config/ilopad ~/.config/autostart/ilopad-server.desktop
3

Restart your computer

If you removed yourself from the input group, restart your computer. Linux applies the change to your groups only when you log in again.
